BOGART LOFTS

YEAR:Fall 2017

SIZE:51,000 SF

LOCATION:Bushwick, NYC

TEAM: Jordan Meerdink, Peter Feigenbaum, Paola Oliver

The Bogart Lofts are located in a section Bushwick with a strong industrial presence. Home to many young artists and creatives, the original units often featured improvised constructions created by tenants. In the process of renovating these units, we sought to continue this spirit of communal loft living while imbuing it with an aesthetic of clean lines, elegant proportions, dramatic lighting, and contemporary finishes. With generous dimensions, massive windows and 12-foot ceilings, the renovated units feature as many as four bedrooms, utilizing glass transoms to maintain a balance of natural light and privacy.

The common areas and corridors were upgraded in close coordination with the building’s branding consultants to provide a unified color palette and typographical language. In addition to painted super-graphics and signage upgrades, three previously-neglected spaces were converted into amenity areas. A former loading dock was converted into a lobby with a glass curtain wall, optical tile, a bleacher stair, and retro seating. A covered open-air summer cabana with an adjacent deck was constructed on the roof. Finally, an underutilized basement was upgraded into a co-working space.
