FILTERED POP-UP

YEAR:Winter 2016

SIZE:1275 SF

LOCATION:Washington Heights, NYC

This temporary coffee shop was opened in Washington Heights while we developed a more comprehensive plan for a food market in the same location. During the planning stages of the market, the interior space was completely demolished and fitted out with an HVAC system, plumbing points, and electrical points. Seeing an opportunity in a prepped and otherwise empty commercial location, we designed a system of modular counter-tops and prep spaces that could be plugged into the new electrical and plumbing grid. The space itself was subdivided with a temporary wall that ran parallel to the storefront and was painted by a local mural artist. Industrial accent lighting was installed on surface mounted conduits and accentuated different seating elements spread throughout the space. While this shop is open for a limited time, its modular construction allows for it to be disassembled and easily moved to other locations.
