Computer scripting allows users to generate many iterations of a prototype from a limited set of instructions. Cube Chair is the result of my attempts to design a logic system rather than an object. Starting with a simple cube, the script incrementally cuts and carves corners to a variable magnitude and frequency. Given a limited amount of variables and constraints, the program is able to produce a nearly infinite amount of variations on the basic design. This script is further automated by implementing a timer component, courtesy of Giulio Piacentino, along with commands to move and sort the resulting shapes into a field. After selecting one of the digital prototypes; I unrolled the object, then fabricated and assembled a scale model.
